The Hive
A software project drawn as a building, and filmed as it goes up — every floor, door and room read straight out of the codebase.
Nobody drew this building.
Most progress reporting is a person writing down what they think happened. This is the opposite.
A nightly script takes a census of the codebase and renders it as a construction drawing. Each floor is a subsystem. Each room is a module. A room stands up on the day its work was registered, from the recorded history — not the day someone reported it.
The drawing has no way to flatter the project, because it has no input except the repository. The crane keeps pace with the topmost built floor. The lift core and the external fire stair rise only as high as the storeys that exist.
Finished. The work merged and the room is standing.

Not started. Visible to everyone, from the first frame.
Colour is state, never material. The small things inside a room are counts the census actually holds:
- doors & side doors
- door frames
- machinery
- meters
- locks & timers
- partitions
- fixtures
- a vault
If you can see it, something in the repository counted it.
What thirty-five days added up to
All of these come off the census itself. The estate is still being built, so every one of them moves.
Twenty-six of the thirty-eight rooms are registered so far. Forty-nine doors counted, seventy-eight vault models placed. The rest is ghost outline, and it stays ghost outline until the work merges.
It is a drawing sheet, not a dashboard. Nothing in it is decoration, and nothing in it is a mock-up.

The Hive is not a feature. It is one artifact, kept whole.
The thing a model makes for you — a document, a table, a diagram, a running page — normally scrolls out of the session that made it. An artifact is that thing given an identity instead, so it survives the conversation, opens next month in a different model, and renders rather than sitting as source. A diagram draws. A page runs. A building turns.
This one is rebuilt every night from a repository that keeps changing, and it comes back as itself each time. That is the whole claim: a record that stays what you left it, in a store no model owns.
